Ask the Artist: Anderson Bueno

Anderson Bueno is an international makeup artist based in Brazil. He is known for his distinct and elaborate makeup looks created for theater, opera, television and musical performances. With over 20 years of experience in the makeup industry, we couldn't wait to learn more about this master of makeup and get the inside scoop on his personal take on the subject of beauty.

Sigma Beauty: How do you define beauty?
AB: Beauty for me is wholeness. Eyes well made with an incredible lipstick would not be enough if we do not treat the skin well. Makeup means nothing if you do not know how to wear it properly. Your makeup should translate who you really are. A diamond's real beauty only comes with the perfect cut.

Sigma Beauty: What do you find to be the most common mistakes women make with their beauty routine?
AB: One of the worst mistakes is to go to bed without taking off the day’s makeup and cleaning the skin. Nowadays, we no longer can say that makeup is bad for your skin. The industry is investing millions of dollars in research for better products that are good for protecting and hydrating the skin as well as preventing early aging and lines. But still, the most important beauty routine should be sleeping with clean and nourished skin.

Sigma Beauty: What facial feature(s) do you love to accentuate most and why?
AB: With no doubt my favorite are the eyes. Through them we can express most of what we want to say.

Sigma Beauty: What is the most challenging part of your job?
AB: One of the major challenges for me is to create the most perfect and natural finished skin that will receive the actual final makeup.
It really bothers me to notice a big difference between the skin tone of the face and neck, for instance. To have a perfect finished skin without showing excess covering is for sure a big challenge.

Sigma Beauty: What are your favorite Sigma Beauty products? / How do you connect with the Sigma Beauty brand?
AB: I absolutely love all brush sets and use them all the time. I especially like the Synthetic Kabuki Kit for applying concealer and foundation. For final touch up I use Mr. Bunny Essential Kit not only for the amazing quality of the bristles, but for its lightness and application precision and of course because of its vegan-friendly compromise.
